There Is No Surprise The BBC Banished Room 101

Room 101 hosted by famed comedian Frank Skinner is a show cancelled not once, but twice by the BBC and I'm starting to see why.
After watching a randomly selected episode from its 16th series I can understand why its dated dry humour and old fashioned nature is no longer being broadcast. It just falls flat into a line of 'boomer' humour that wont gain the attention of young audiences.
Throughout its 30 minute running time, quite a few of its jokes were just at the expense of Gary Lineker, an English mascot of football and one of three guests on the panel. You would be mistaken to think that Jack Dee would be getting most of the laughs given his comedic background but instead he was just slumped in his grumpy demeanour discussing hand dryers. All this while actress Faye Ripley the third guest and her opinion of leggings were almost sexualised by Skinner as he commented how good women look as if he was a randy dog.

As the episode progressed it gave me the odd dry chuckle if I am being honest but it felt like subjects were becoming ridiculously mundane. Hearing Lineker describe why he does not like a particular road junction had me laughing in disbelief. Being 100 plus episodes into the show, it's clear the BBC and Skinner were flogging a dead horse.
After 18 seasons the show was in dire need of a shake up and some form of evolution to bring it to modern audiences. This however was not meant to be and I feel the BBC made the best decision to banish Room 101 itself to the shelves of TV history.
